{"id":1234,"date":"2026-04-08T19:33:46","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emeddoc.org\/?p=1234"},"modified":"2026-04-08T19:33:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:33:47","slug":"high-flow-oxygen-in-hypoxemic-respiratory-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emeddoc.org\/?p=1234","title":{"rendered":"High-Flow Oxygen in Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>There is a growing body of literature evaluating the role of high-flow nasal oxygen in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, particularly in comparison with standard oxygen therapy and noninvasive ventilation. <br>Based on my own clinical experience, high-flow oxygen may offer improved patient tolerance and comfort compared with noninvasive ventilation. A recent randomized, multicenter, open-label trial published in the <em>New England Journal of Medicine<\/em> further examined the effectiveness of high-flow oxygen versus standard oxygen therapy in this population.
