Ibuprofen has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects. Although studies have investigated the proper dosage of ibuprofen as a pain reliever, the optimal dose for each specific effect is not thoroughly studied. In a study published in Annals of Emergency Medicine, Motov et al. examined various dosages of ibuprofen as a pain reliever. They compared 400, 600, and 800 mg dose for patients with acute pain. They found at 60 minutes, all three doses has similar analgesic efficacy.
