An important recent JAMA discussion on the use of AI in medical research and publication. AI is increasingly part of manuscript preparation, and the message is not simply “don’t use it,” but use it responsibly, transparently, and within journal guidelines.
Authors should understand where AI can assist with writing, revision, and formatting, while remaining fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the manuscript. Just as important, its use should be appropriately disclosed.
